if i might ask — why are the seventh day adventists like walter veith considered a cult?
well a cult is anything led by a man or in the case of the sda it is a woman by the name of ellen g white trying to keep the sabbath and be legalistic about being able to keep your salvation when it is all FAITH in this dispensation of grace and NOT OF WORKS. (ie keeping the sabbath).
I still “eat the meat and throw away the bones” when listening to veith, he has a lot of good insight, but I do not believe we have to keep the sabbath day to be saved, as the new testament solidifies.
I’ve heard the “cult” accusations before, but the more I listen to Veith, I am not convinced of it. Not once did I sense that Veith ever put aside Jesus Christ’s blood sacrifice as the pre-eminent doctrine to our salvation.
Regarding the Sabbath, I don’t believe Veith ever put Sabbath-keeping over our faith in Christ, nor did he put the Sabbath above all the other commandments of God; I believe he was simply re-emphasizing the SABBATH because people seemed to have ‘rationalized’ it out of the Scripture, which is why Veith is re-emphasizing it in the first place and thus reminding us that ALL of the commandments are to be observed, and not one should be put aside:
“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one [point], he is guilty of all.” – James 2:10
“Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, HE SHALL BE CALLED THE LEAST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 5:19
In the above verse, I think it is clear that every single commandment is binding to our standing in God’s Kingdom. It is clear here that Christ teaches that in his kingdom they who teach that any laws of God might be violated with impunity, should be called LEAST; while they should be held in high regard who observed all the laws of God without distinction.
Regarding the Sabbath, Matthew 12:1-14 is always brought up to prove that Jesus somehow broke the Sabbath. In my opinion, Jesus never broke the Sabbath, nor did He ever suggest doing away with the Sabbath; He merely rebuked the Pharisees for their un-Scriptural precepts on how Sabbath ought to be observed!
What then is the ‘scriptural’ and proper observance of the Sabbath? It is found on Isaiah 58:13-14, which states: “If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, [from] doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking [thine own] words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken [it].”
In reading this, we now understand why Jesus (on Matthew 12:1-14) allowed his disciples to eat corn, or even do the work of God during the Sabbath — because such acts are not against the ‘scriptural’ observance of the Sabbath. Furthermore on these verses, Jesus continued to rebuke the absurdity of the Pharisees’ precepts of Sabbath by healing a man’s withered hand and said after:
“What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore IT IS LAWFUL TO DO WELL ON THE SABBATH DAYS.”
Jesus is simply reminding us that it is “lawful” to do work on Sabbath, as long as it’s not a selfish act or as long as it serves God’s purpose.

Actually, the link above is discussion pertaining to Scriptural evidence; it is a 7th Adventist retort to a Baptist defending Sunday Sabbath, using Biblical Scripture from the New Testament to prove that Sabbath-keeping is still binding to us under God’s ‘royal law’ (Ten Commandments).

I am new to all this, but what’s interesting to me is that in this document (Chapter 8), the Adventist position thoroughly put to light the same New Testament verses used by the Baptist to prove their case against Sabbath-keeping, and in the end, there is one thing on which the Scriptures are clear: that all the way from Genesis to Revelation, the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God (Exodus 20:10). That this day was sanctified in Eden, set apart for the holy and religious use of men, as a great memorial of creation; that it is God’s holy day (Isaiah 58:13); that Jesus is Lord of it (Mark 2:28); that Jesus kept it (Luke 4:16); that the disciples, still kept it after the resurrection of our Lord (Luke 23:56) ; and that it was the Lord’s day (Revelation 1:10).

Regarding your quoting of the verse, Colossians 2:16, I re-read Colossians 2:13-17 and my honest opinion is that in these verses, Paul was admonishing the followers NOT to have a religion of legalism, referring to “THE HANDWRITING OF ORDINANCES” which were nailed to the cross:
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; BLOTTING OUT THE HANDWRITING OF ORDINANCES THAT WAS AGAINST US, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: WHICH ARE A SHADOW OF THINGS TO COME; but the body is of Christ.” [Colossians 2:13-17 KJV]
“The handwriting of ordinances” refers to the ceremonial law, which is separate from the “royal law” or the Ten Commandments.
The “sabbaths” referred to in verse 16 are mentioned together with food, drink, and festivals – none of which occur in the Ten Commandments. Paul is stating here that the ceremonial law and all the special sabbaths find their fulfillment in Christ. It does not say that we do away with the Ten Commandments at all. It simply says that we do not need to follow the strict ‘ordinances’ associated with the Sabbath in Moses’ time.
In Deuteronomy 31:24-26, we learn which book of the law was “against us”:
“And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, that Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark fo the covenant of the Lord saying, Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God that it may be there for a witness against thee.”
So it is the ceremonial law written by Moses, the very law contained handwriting of ordinances, that “was against us”. The Ten Commandments is never called a “law against us”. It was always called the “perfect law of liberty” or even the “royal law” (James 1:25; 2:8-12). This law is also called just and good, pure, righteous, and perfect (Psalm 19:7,8; 119:172; Romans 7:12).
Furthermore, Paul referred to the ceremonial law/handwriting of ordinances as pointing to a future event – the death of Christ – serving to remind people of their salvation only through the sacrifice of the Lamb of God. On the other hand, the Sabbath of the Ten Commandments is a memorial to Creation and redemption, and is not “a shadow of things to come.” Therefore, Paul could NOT be referring to the ‘royal law’ or the Ten Commandments in these verses.
He's definetly a great teacher. Ive watched the one on Islamic catholic connection, and the NWO, excellent. But he is a SDA follower, SDA is ok until they mention Ellen White. Though I respect the SDA people, I also like Jonathan Gray who wrote Dead Men's Secrets, a fantastic book on lost ancient preflood technology. They also contend against Rome, and some lost their lives, like Jim Arrabito and others, honest and sincere people. I believe God allowed Ron Wyatt to find some pretty amazing biblical artifacts. Veith knows what he is talking about.This is the testimoney of the Saints. Would do well in listening to the warnings of what is going to happen to whom,and when.No definate date ,but it will happen maybe in our life time .It is all there (Revelation)
I saw the Amazing Discoveries logo at the beginning of many videos by Walter Veith,which i believe to be Seventh Day Adventist.I saw a few videos critical of Ellen White’s ties to this denomination.But i believe that there are many good sincere people in this sect.There is alot of good info in these videos.
